6 THINGS NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT INDOOR PLANT DECOR

Growing houseplants is quite advantageous and several people have chosen to embrace this aspect in decorating their interiors. Apart from making your home look good, they also add detail and pull together the overal design. Indoor plants do make great decorative pieces; most furnishings are made of rigid surfaces and straight lines, but houseplants add the smoothness and curviness into the design.
Plants also give an inviting feeling and make your home feel 'lived'.
With the wide variety of leaf sizes, shapes, colour and texture, plants can be utilized in decorating just about any kind of room to achieve a beautiful end result.
Plants also serve various design purposses;
They can be used to make a room appear larger, for instance if you want to bring out an illusion of a high ceiling you'll need a tall, slender plant like Dracaena marginata in one of the corners.
If you want to fill in dead corners, use a bushy plant like Ficus benjamina.
Another way you can make a room look larger is by placing your houseplant near a window where there is greenery outside, so that the indoors appear to be an extension of the outside.
On the other hand, you can use houseplants to make a room appear smaller. You can do this by bringing in a plant that is oversized for the room, or you can choose one that grows up then drapes.

So here are the 6 things no one will tell you about indoor plant decor:

1. CREATE FOCAL POINTS

Most house plants especially those that bloom, add to a room's decor when they're placed in the spotlight. You can place them at the foot or top of the staircase, fireplace mantels or even the entryways.

2. CREATE GROUPINGS
Cluster of houseplants add a decorative touch to certain areas of the room such as desks, pianos, fireplace mantels, credenzas, hutches, dressers and nightstands and in bathrooms next to sinks or bathtub decks.

3. CONSIDER PLANT STYLES

Usually, the type of plant you choose will determine the mood of that particular room. Some plants like orchirds lend an elegant, sensuous atmosphere to a room, while others like the rubber plant tend to give a room a more informal heavier feeling.
You should be keen when choosing plants and determine wether it will open up a room or make it more cosy. A bathroom for example calls for lighter plants.

4. CHOOSE YOUR CONTAINERS CAREFULLY

Except for hanging plants, vases are a visible element in indoor plant decor. Your choice of container will determine the overall design of the plant decor.
You should ensure that the container's colour, design, shape, size and texture match the room decor and contribute to the atmosphere you are trying to create.

5. TRY PLANTS ACCENTS

There is a wide variety of accesorires you can use with house plants to make them more decorative and to tie the overal design together.
They include plant sticks made of materials such as ceramic, wood and beads.
You can also use several accents such as little birds, insects and butterflies. During the holidays, you can decorate with items like gourds, berries and red ribbons.

6. TIE A SPACE TOGETHER

Plants are normally used to create an intimate space. Flank a sofa with flowering plants and on the coffee table add a plant with similar colour, and the whole space will feel cosy and comfortable.

9 AMAZING SMALL BEDROOM IDEAS TO TRY RIGHT NOW

Designing a small space can prove to be challenging to any interior designer. It is even much more complicated for any other person who wishes to decorate their own space. It's tough to fit all the basics (a bed, a desk, a closet into so little square footage).
Therefore, we have compiled 9 small bedroom designs to "rock your world" and give you an idea of how you can create amazing interiors. Enjoy your experience transforming your small bedroom into a magical 'den'.

 1. This first example features the colour blocking technique which comes in handy when you want to make a small room look bigger. One side of the walls has been painted aqua blue while the rest have been painted white. This colour scheme for the walls gives the room a hollow feel making it look bigger than it actually is. The orange lampshades and the blue pillows further expounds the idea of colour blocking.

2. Another idea for your small bedroom would be utilising stripes in one area of the room. It is much easier to incorporate this aspect on the carpet, It's also quite common. Stripes do help in making the room look 'lengthy' and much spaceous, therefore would be appropriate for a small bedroom.

3. Creating storage space in a small bedroom can be quite tricky for many people. However, it shouldn't be such a big deal because there are so many ideas you can incorporate in your space. This design has the storage space inbuilt with the bed as well as shelves on the wall.
Creating ample storage space for your small bedroom can be the start of making it look bigger.

4. This beroom design also utilizes space by creating and maximizing on storage space. You can also introduce a mirror, prefferably a large one, since the reflection makes the room appear larger. Apart from this, you can also introduce colour blocking to this design.

5. This is an ideal small bedroom that looks cosy and spaceous despite of its size. The shelves provide  good storage space while the choice of lights makes the room look comfortable and one is not likely to pay attention to the small size of the room.

6. This design incorporates the cool colours in its colour scheme, warm colours only appear on the books in the shelves which doesn't really make a difference. The monochrome colour scheme to some point makes this room look bigger apart from the storage compartments attached to the bed. The chair is of minimalist design which is appropriate in small bedroom designs.

7. When you're choosing a colour scheme for your small bedrooom, you do not have to go very far experimenting with a number of colours. You can decide to use just one neutral colour like white. White gives this room an illusion of being big and spaceous.

8. The lights in this small bedroom immediately draws attention to the viewers eye. This element of decoration is very important and in this case makes this bedroom look cosy and spaceous. You should consider the choice of lights when designing your small bedroom.

9. As mentioned before, storage space is quite vital when you're designing a small bedroom. This bedroom design has its bed fixed together with the drawers to save on space. Choice of colour also plays a huge role in making this design a success.

 4. Another way to arrange your photos creatively is to use this 'right angle' method. You begin by positioning two of your very large photos side by side and then you build up from there, adding the smaller photos upwards, downwards and horizontally.

Photo display ... start at the corner and hang your two largest pieces on either side of the corner. Build out from there adding more frames above, below and extending horizontally down the wall.

7. This is a fishing pole frame and as you can see, the improvisation has been achieved by using an actual fishing pole. It's an exquisite way of displaying your photos especially if fishing is in your list of hobbies.
This design is also appropriate for an office dealing with fishing equipment or anything else to do with this particular hobby.

Have you ever thought of spicing up your space with a little bit of geometric patterns here and there but you dont know how to execute it? Well, problem solved! We're here to give you an overview of how you can utilize geometric pattern in a space of your choice.

Geometric pattern is a timeless trend. You can utilize different shapes such as circles, rectangles, squares, hexagons; to create a pattern you will adore.
Take a tour of the 10 samples we have put together for you:

1. WALLPAPER

The most simple and the most common way to utilize geometry in your interiors is definitely  the use of wallpaper. Depending on the colour of your choice and the kind of geometrical shapes you fancy, different combinations can bring out a great design. The navy blue triangles on the wallpaper project out and act as the focal point of this room.

2. AREA RUG & PILLOWS

The second way to bring out geometry in interior deco is quite simple and easy to execute because it focuses on the area rug and the pillows only. The kind of pattern on the pillows does not necessarily have to match the one on the area rug. However, you should be careful not to use two completely different patterns.

3. HEADBOARD

If you like the less ordinary bedroom you will definitely love this headboard design. The bed is the most important piece of furniture in the bedroom;the name says it all anyway. Headboards can serve very many purposes but in this case we have decided to focus on its aesthetic appeal. Hexagonal shapes have been placed side by side to create a lovely headboard design that you should try out.

4. STORAGE SPACE

Who said storage space has to be the old, boring shelves we tolerate everyday. Spice up your space with this kind of design to bring vibrance and kick out monotony in your interiors. Here you can utilize different shapes and sizes of open cuboids and cubes. The arrangement is the most crutial part of this design and maximum attention should be given in putting it together.

5. HEXAGONAL SHAPES

Once again, hexagonal shapes have been utilized when incorporating geometric patterns in a space. You should have a good choice of colour scheme to avoid bringing out a chaotic or even a dull look.

6. LIGHT FRAME

When it comes to including geometric pattern in your interiors, you dont have to be rigid. Go as far as trying out this light frame by Herr Mandel. The sharpness of the pendant light owes itself to the geometric angles of the shades while the rawness is due to a large part of the wooden material. It hints at a rugged nature thanks to its masculine undertones, which will nevertheless appeal to both men and women.

7. MIRROR DESIGNS

Another way to bring geometry to your interiors is incorporating these mirror designs. As much as they may seem quite unique and rare to find, these amazing designs are all over; someone would think that mirror designs are going through a bit of renaissance. Admittedly, most of them are art installations rather than real products, but i see no reason why you shouldnt decorate your walls with this piece of artwork.

8. FURNITURE DESIGN

This brilliant chair was designed by Eva Fly. It is both soft and comfortable, but still light in its expression. With the correct placement in your space, this piece of furniture will definitely bring in the aspect of geometry in your interiors without appearing overdone.

9. THE KITCHEN

The kitchen is one place that probably will not come to mind when you are dealing with geometric patterns. However, this is one of the best areas to use geometric shapes and should not be ignored. Geometry can range from the patterns exhibited on a section of the wall to the furniture and also utensils.
