IS YOUR BATHROOM SAFE ENOUGH?

Keeping up with your hygiene is a very good idea, but watch your step. Is your bathroom safe enough? Are you guaranteed that you have less than 5% likelihood of an accident in your bathroom? With its slippery floors and hard surfaces the bathroom is actually one of the most dangerous places in your home. It is estimated that about two-thirds of accidents at home happen in the bathroom. This is a depressing fact because many people do invest on designing attention-grabbing bathroom interiors but fail to pay attention on the safety.
It is important to equally focus on safety as well as the aesthetic purposes of your bathroom.
Protect yourself and your family by following these tips:

1. Maintain cleanliness in the bathroom. Be sure to keep the tub clean to counteract slippery soap scum or mold.

2. Keep the bathroom floor dry and ensure that it always stays dry after use. By doing so you reduce the risk of slipping. A weighted shower curtain will help ensure that no water leaks on the floor.

3. Ditch your throw rugs. These slippery floor coverings are the number one cause of accidents in households. If you cannot part with them, you might as well secure loose rugs with double-faced tapes, tacks or slip resistant backings.

4. Utilize non-slip strips, mats or tiles in your tub and shower to help prevent falls. To combat tripping, secure any loose corners.

5. Install grab bars around the bathtub, shower and toilet. If this is done correctly, they'll help you balance as you stand or sit and give you something to hold on just in case you slip. They come in a wide range of textures, lengths and styles. Note that a towel bar or soap dish is not a grab bar because they are not designed to hold your weight.

6. Your bathroom should be adequately lit during the day. At night, put a nightlight on the path to the bathroom. Within the bathroom, use a nightlight, or install an illuminated switch.

7. Equip your shower with a handheld or adjustable shower head. You can maneuver it where you want it, minimizing your movement in the shower.

8. Take your time.
The more you hurry, the more likely you are to slip and fall.

7 TRENDY WAYS TO STYLE THAT AWKWARD CORNER

Empty corners in a room, be it your living room or bedroom can be a major challenge when it comes to decorating that particular space. They often exude a feeling of emptiness and boredom therefore we are here to help get rid of such a situation.
I have compiled 7 creative examples to give you an idea of how you can go about this task. Well, you can bring out your creative side and transform these designs into a better piece of your own. I mean, you do not have to replicate everything as it is.

1. One of the most simplest and easy ways to get rid of your awkward corner is by transforming it into storage space. You can decide to place shelves for books or any other items you may desire. The example we have shown also features picture frames to make this wall vibrant. It does not have to remain blank and boring but if you plan on getting large sized shelves you will need to do away with the photo display idea. Reason why? Your space will look overdone and crowded.

2. Have you ever thought of making that space cozy? Here's an idea you can implement. Stripes normally make a space appear larger and lengthy than it really is, you should definitely include this. Also, add pillows to make the space more cozy and comfortable for everyone who will use the space.

3. Vintage furniture will definitely come in handy when you are trying to make your boring corners lively. This chair serves both decorative and functional purposes. The large picture frames also add on making the whole design vibrant.

4.  Creating a basement office is another creative and easy to execute way to try out. Shelves and drawers can also be incorporated to provide storage as well as decorating the space. Your choice of color should be in harmony with the other part of that particular room.

5. Do include custom  couches in decorating your corners, well, If it is compatible with your design, why not? Once again it advisable to include wall art or photos to tie the whole design together. The end result will definitely be a success.

6. The attic is another corner you do not want to ignore. It's time you decorated it and make it useful enough. Plain colors like white should be used on the walls to make this space look bigger than  it actually is. Storage space is crucial here and should not be ignored, it is advisable to put up shelves to organize items like books.

7. Antic frames when incorporated in the right context will bring out a creative end result to a particular space. Other items like sculptures can be used instead of the antic frame in decorating.
